NEW!!! Handcrafted by George ebay Store

George opened an new ebay store called "Handcrafted by George".   You can find his store at:  http://stores.ebay.com/handcraftedbygeorge.

He gets a lot of reclaimed wood from a local woodworker.  The pieces of wood are too small to use on wishing wells, ornamental bridges or planters, so he has been using the short pieces to make bird houses, mason bee houses and bird feeders.

He will take pictures tomorrow and Tuesday, so we can post listings of his items on the store.  All of the smaller items can be shipped easily, so we'll sell them in North America, postage free.  If someone wants a larger item, it will be for local pick-up only.

Mason Bee Houses

Mason Bee Houses (Hives) come with a page of instructions.
Mason bees are native to Washington State.  They do more
pollination then honey bees and they don't sting.  The one
drawback about these bees is they don't make honey.

Always put your Mason Bee House facing East, up high enough
that domestic animals won't bother the bees.  They always get
filled, so we add one house every year to the outside of our garage.

Bird & Bee Houses at the Rainier Community Garden

Last Saturday's "Build-a-Birdhouse" workshop was packed with people....  Lions Walt Dohring and George Johnson helped kids of all ages build bird houses and Mason bee houses.........  Great idea that Jeannine and Angie had to put on this workshop for our community.  Thank you all for the great turnout!

Say hello to George from the Rainier Lions Club, our local mason bee expert. He helped kids and adults build a habitat for mason bees.  City Councilman Dennis McVey and his wife have Mason Bee Houses in their yard.  He came to Rainier Community Garden on July 19th and shared a lot of information about Mason Bees.
